We deliver and set up hospital beds anywhere in the Los Angeles area
and carry a wide variety of medical beds for all kinds of patient conditions
including hospital beds for:
(1) Hospitals and medical centers that need commercial grade
“med-surg” or ICU bed models by Hill Rom and Stryker that are
patient ready, cost efficient, durable and reliable. We have delivered
hundreds of hospital beds to local Los Angeles area hospitals and
medical centers. Contact us for a quote on medical beds at
or email us at hospitaldirectmedical@gmail.com
(2) Patients that need a full electric bed for assistance with a caregiver
including long term care beds that provide comfort and extra
patient mobility. These are normally for patients that are getting up
and moving around but need some motorized bed functions to assist
with home care needs.
(3) Patients that need a hospital bed that sits low to the ground
to help with transition from a wheelchair into bed which are called
“high-low beds” since they sit lower to the ground than normal bed
models but go up just as high as a normal bed. These beds are also
for patients at risk of falling out of bed and are popular in nursing
homes for senior care.
(4) Patients at risk of getting bed sores and skin ulcers from spending
prolonged periods of time in bed or in bed and a chair. These are beds
that are equipped with an air mattress system that provides a
high level of pressure redistribution and are the same beds used
in hospitals to treat patients with bed sores. Bed sores and skin
break down infections are the number one reason patients are
re-admitted into a hospital after leaving medical care.

Common Hospital Bed Questions and Answers
(1) Where are you located?
We are located right off the Highway 5 Freeway in San Diego. Although
we are located in San Diego we do deliveries to Los Angeles area hospitals
and area locations every week and perform bed set up and demonstrations
on how the beds work. We have a “hospital bed showroom” where all the
bed models are on display and clients can come demo the beds and see
the difference between each bed model. Unlike many companies that
just have photos on their websites and order the beds online we actually
carry the inventory and have it in stock and on a showroom floor.
(2) What is the best hospital bed model for patients with bed sores?
For any patient with bed sores, or at risk of getting bed sores from
spending prolonged time in bed a hospital bed with an air mattress
is essential. The best medical bed with an air mattress is a bed where
the mattress is connected to the bed frame and not a “replacement
mattress” that hangs off the foot of the bed. The reason is that when
an air mattress is connected to the bed frame and actually made as
an ICU bed, the bed and mattress work as one unit. When the bed
moves into a “chair” position the mattress knows that and conforms
to the shape of the bed as the bed is moving. A “replacement mattress”
that hangs off the foot of the bed is separated from the movements
of the bed and thus provides less mobility for the patient. Although a
replacement mattress system will work, it is better for short term
care than long term care.
Keeping a patient upright in bed helps with bodily circulation and
health and that position is easily achieved with a bed that has an air
mattress connected to the bed frame and made as an ICU – acute care bed.
It is difficult, if not impossible, for a bed made for a foam mattress
that has a replacement air mattress hanging off the foot board to adjust
to be bed positions like “chair position” and this limits patient movement
and positioning.
The best hospital bed models with a built in air mattress would be
the Hill Rom P1900 TotalCare beds, Hill Rom P3200 Versacare bed
and the Stryker InTouch air mattress bed models. There are other
beds with an air mattress but these models featured here are by
far the most popular and reliable beds that are used in hospitals.
(3) What is a good hospital bed model for home use that is
low in price?
Our most popular hospital bed models for home use include the
Hill Rom Advance bed, Hill Rom P1600 Advanta bed, Hill Rom P3200
Versacare bed and Stryker Secure 2 beds . These beds are priced at
over 70% of the cost of buying them new and are professional
grade beds that are reliable, durable and also used in hospitals
around the USA.
(4) What are the nicest and most expensive bed models you have?
The Hill Rom P7500 Progressa is by far the BEST bed made and used in the
United States. Made by Hill Rom this bed includes a pulmonary feature to help
get congestion out of the lungs and also a patient turning mattress and a
full chair position where the feet fully touch the ground. This is a pinnacle bed for
people who need the highest quality of care but there are other bed models
below which are also very nice and also with many great features.
We have many current model beds used now in hospitals and
have the newest beds available in the used-refurbished medical
bed market including the Hill Rom Care Assist, Hill Rom P3200
Versacare and Stryker Secure 3 bed models. These are all full
electric medical beds that use a foam mattress. All beds with
an air mattress system are also top of the line bed that normally
cost anywhere from $25,000 to $50,000 new and are sold for
much less in the used and refurbished bed market.
(5) What is the cost for delivery of a hospital bed in Los Angeles?
The normal delivery cost including in home delivery and set up ranges
from $300 to $500 per bed. The cost is high because most beds
range from 500-800 pounds and require a minimum of two people
to deliver. In addition they must be carried on a lift gate truck which
averages about 8 miles per gallon. We always make sure the customer
is able to see how the bed works and test the beds before leaving any
location to assure the customer is comfortable with the bed functions
and knows the bed has been delivered in good working order.
(6) What makes you different from other Los Angeles hospital beds
stores and medical bed companies?
What sets “Hospital Direct Medical” apart from other Los Angeles hospital bed stores and medical bed companies is our focus on selling only full-electric, commercial-grade beds commonly used in hospitals. While we do offer some residential-grade models, we primarily recommend them for customers needing a bed on a second floor or with lighter requirements. Unlike most companies that prefer lighter, easier-to-handle residential beds, we specialize in hospital-grade beds weighing 450-800 pounds. With thousands of beds sold from our California and Virginia locations, this has become a core part of our business.
Insurance Provided a Medical Bed That Was Not Sufficient
We normally work with patients that have gotten a cheap semi-
electric medical bed that is uncomfortable and not able to
provide the level of service needed and they need an upgraded
level of care. Although the prices are about the same as residential
grade beds the refurbished Hill Rom and Stryker beds that new cost
$8,000 to $12,000 new and are sold refurbished offer a much
higher lever of care and comfort for patients. These are what we
stock and carry and not a wide list of the mail order residential
grade beds that 90% plus of what other “Los Angeles bed companies”
stock and sell.
We are different and we are one of the very few Los Angeles hospital bed
companies that sells commercial grade beds to long term care
and home care patients. See for yourself why we are the largest
refurbished Stryker and Hill Rom bed store company in
Southern California. Call us for more information or visit
our San Diego area showroom to see a wide range of hospital
medical beds on display and ready for immediate sale and
pick up or delivery. We have service technicians in Los Angeles
based in Los Angeles and can also provide bed warranty and
bed preventive maintenance services.
